In 1884, Gilbert and Sullivan had enjoyed eight successful productions. Sullivan, however, was ready to work on more serious music. Gilbert, inspired by the recent craze for all things Japanese, decided to set a new show in Japan. A classic was born. It is the story of a wandering musician, Nanki-Poo, in love with Yum-Yum — the fiancée of Ko-Ko, the Lord High Executioner. But the musician has a secret. Come enjoy "Three little maids from school are we," "I've got a little list," and "Here's a how-de-do" in the show that some say is the most popular theatrical production in history.
