Plot
Classic stories from the Middle East, with their poetry, mystery, and humor, have long fascinated the west (think of Aladdin and The Arabian Nights). The story of Kismet is one such exotic gem; winning the 1954 Tony for best musical. Kismet is the story of Hajj, a beggar poet, who, in one 24-hour period, is caught in a complex web of danger, humor, and love. Its score, by Robert Wright and George Forrest, is adapted from the lush melodies of Alexander Borodin, and features "Stranger in Paradise." Come see Kismet, and enjoy an evening of intrigue and hilarity with Lyric Theatre.
