Plot
When Cinderella was first broadcast on TV in 1957, over 60% of the US population tuned in. What they saw was Julie Andrews, just 21, along with a cast of Broadway veterans. Rodgers and Hammerstein, a theatrical genius team, had broken into a new medium, television, and created an instant classic. Cinderella is the enduring fairy tale of a lonely girl, trapped in a life of drudgery by her stepmother and two wicked stepsisters. On one magical evening she goes to the royal ball, meets and charms the handsome prince but, alas, must leave before the magic spell ends. Join Lyric Theatre and see if the glass slipper fits.
